Rosenstiel School Of Marine And Atmospheric Science Campus
The University of Miami's Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science, which comprises 18 acres on the Biscayne Bay waterfront on Virginia Key, is the only subtropical marine and atmospheric research institute in the continental United States. The school is also home to the world's largest hurricane simulation tank. The Atlantic Oceanographic and Meteorological Laboratory, a federal research laboratory, is headquartered next to the Rosenstiel School campus on Rickenbacker Causeway.
The school also maintains a research facility on the eastern end of Barbados, the Rosenstiel School's Barbados Atmospheric Chemistry Observatory , that documents the summertime transport of Saharan dust particles across the Atlantic Ocean to the Caribbean Basin and South America.
As part of its campus-wide free shuttle service, the University of Miami operates a route from the main Coral Gables campus to the Rosenstiel School, which includes stops at the Vizcaya station on weekdays.

South And Richmond Campuses
In 1946, the University of Miami acquired the former Richmond Naval Air Station in southwestern Miami, 12 mi south of the main campus in order to accommodate the post-war increase in students. The campus was acquired immediately following World War II and provided classrooms, housing, and other amenities for about 1,100 students for two academic years. In 1948, it was repurposed by the University of Miami as a research facility. In the 1960s, some of the buildings were leased to the Central Intelligence Agency. The South Campus Grove was a 350 acres plot for agricultural research and horticultural studies that was established in 1948. For 20 years, the University of Miami used radioactive isotopes in biological research on the South Campus, and buried materials included irradiated animals on the site. In August 2006, the University of Miami agreed to reimburse the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers $393,473 for clean-up costs under the 1980 Superfund law. Its six buildings provide 63,800 sq ft to currently house the Global Public Health Research Group, Miami Institute for Human Genomics, and Forensic Toxicology Laboratory). The University of Miami once planned to build a south campus on the property but opted in 2014 to sell the 80 acres of land instead.

A student must officially cancel or withdraw from a class no less than 24 hours prior to the class start in order to receive payment credit. Cancellation must be made in writing no less than 24 hours prior to the course start date. Nonattendance does not constitute a cancellation. All monies paid by the applicant will be refunded if requested no less than 24 hours prior to the course start date. No refunds or waivers will be granted for drops less than 24 hours before the course start date, unless the class is cancelled by the University. There is no prorated refund schedule. Dropping classes is the students responsibility. Refunds will be made within 30 days of the date that the University determines the student has withdrawn. Students will receive a refund in the form of original payment, excluding cash. If payment was made by credit card, the refund will be credited back to the credit card used. If payment was made by cash or check, the refund check will be mailed to the students address on record. Students must ensure that their correct mailing address is on file with the Office of the Registrar. Students should contact the Registrar to update student records. Refunds cannot be carried forward for credit to the next class registration. Refunds are processed after all fees or obligations owed to the University are met.
